Get to know me
My name is Keith Elliott and I have been an expatriate for over three decades. Since settling in Spain in 1990, I have worked in financial areas and in the translation of tax, financial and legal texts for large consulting and law firms, specializing in the tax area, which has allowed me to gain in-depth knowledge of the challenges faced by expatriates when filing their US tax returns.
In addition to my professional experience in the tax area, I myself have been required to file my own US return and during my years as an expatriate I have helped dozens of other expatriates do the same. As my own situation evolved (buying and selling homes, children, investments, inheritances, etc.) I sought various outside services, but found none that satisfied me. The large US consultancies lacked experience with expatriates, the large expatriate consultancies lacked proximity, and when I went to smaller specialized consultancies, I was met with poor service as they did not respond to my queries and questions in a reasonable amount of time.

Therefore, I decided to apply all my professional and personal experience in international taxation and formalize my knowledge by preparing for the Treasury Department exams to become an Enrolled Agent, which is the highest accreditation granted by the IRS to prepare tax returns in the US and provide tax planning and consulting services. Another important privilege is that the Enrolled Agent designation allows me to represent clients directly before the IRS in administrative inquiries and investigations.
My goal for Expat1040 is to be a US personal tax return preparation service offering personalized and tailored services to client's at a price commensurate with the complexity of the situation. With my experience and commitment, you can trust that your return will be handled professionally, efficiently and with a close and confidential approach. I am here to simplify your tax life abroad.
Enrolled Agent
Did you know that an Enrolled Agent (EA) is uniquely qualified to handle U.S. taxes, even in international situations? An EA is authorized to represent taxpayers before the IRS without geographic restrictions, making them the ideal professional for expatriates.
