US Tax Return for Expatriates

Get to know me

My name is Keith Elliott, and I've been an expat for over three decades. Since settling in Spain in 1990, I've worked in finance and translated tax, financial, and legal texts for major consulting and law firms. I specialized in tax matters, which has given me an in-depth understanding of the challenges expats face when filing their U.S. tax returns.

In addition to my professional experience in the tax field, I myself have been required to file my own US tax return, and during my years as an expat, I have helped dozens of other expats do the same. As my own situation evolved (home purchase, children, investments, inheritances, etc.), I sought out several external services but found none that satisfied me. Large US consultancies lacked experience with expats, large expat specialists lacked proximity, and when I turned to smaller specialized consultancies, I found poor service as they did not respond to my inquiries and questions in a reasonable timeframe.

Therefore, I decided to apply all my professional and personal experience in international taxation and formalize my knowledge by preparing for the Treasury Department exams to become an Enrolled Agent, the highest accreditation granted by the IRS for preparing U.S. tax returns and providing tax consulting and planning services. Another important privilege is that the Enrolled Agent designation allows me to represent clients directly before the IRS in administrative inquiries and investigations.

My goal with Expat1040 is to provide a friendly, tailored US personal tax return preparation service tailored to the needs of clients at a price commensurate with their complexity. With my experience and commitment, you can trust that your return will be handled professionally, efficiently, and with close contact and absolute confidentiality. I'm here to simplify your tax life abroad.

Enrolled Agent

Did you know that an Enrolled Agent (EA) is specifically trained to handle US taxes, even in international situations? An EA is authorized to represent taxpayers before the IRS without geographic restrictions, making them the ideal professional for expats.
